Last time on Liveplay! Jes became increasingly disillusioned by the sheer awful of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, and stopped playing entirely. However, since I a) am too sick to function and b) need to replay this game for Chocobo Down regardless, I invite you, 1.2 people who care, to join me!

And then, I spend five minutes sitting on the floor, staring at my video game drawer hoping that X's case will magically jump out of its spot and hit me in the face.

It did not.

I found it regardless.

Zanarkand* is such a beautiful song. I remember when it was played at Distant Worlds. :D

*I have no idea if the name of the song actually is Zanarkand. My excuse is that I'm sick and don't care, because I'm sick.

I now get to watch the same scene I watched twenty seconds ago, before my controller deigned to respond to me!

I'm treated to a close-up of Tidus' very orange face. He wants me to listen to his story.

His story begins on a boat.

In Las Vegasanarkand. Also, there was a see-through little boy who may or may not but totally is Bahamut and people won't let me leave until I sign their blitzballs!

I am going to name Tidus "Orange".

Because he's orange.

The little see-through boy is all, "You can't make plans with kids tonight!" and Tidus listens and acquiesces because when a ghost child talks to you, you damn well listen.

Tomorrow's okay, though.

A disembodied voice gave backstory! Presumably he's some sort of TV personality, or whatever, but I choose to believe he's an example of Orange having a psychotic episode and hallucinating voices.

The important thing: Jecht is dead maybe, and Tidus is awesome.

The opening cinematic is amazing. I don't care what the haters think, putting possibly!Rammstein in a Final Fantasy game was the best creative decision ever made, especially if you're a closet headbanger like I am.

AURON!

Sin is a giant water disco ball in the sky.

Something I love: Tidus is not initially a fighter. He swats at the air ineffectually in the direction of the monsters and then falls on his ass, and Auron has to lift him up like a child.

Muscle memory: Still knowing exactly which buttons to hit in correct order to properly execute Auron's Bushido overdrive.

Things that amuse me: I named my last Tidus from my last playthrough "Soccer". I've no idea why, just as I'm sure I'll completely forget why I named him Orange in six months.

Auron knows we're expected! His Auron sense must have been tingling. Orange is skeptical, or maybe he just has a store of stock phrases of teenage indignation that he pulls out when the situation becomes too overwhelming for him.

Tidus is especially orange as Auron throws him up into the possible maw of a cosmic horror, and then we are, um, someplace... doing something... swimming in air... COOL.

The other Al-Bheds on the ship assume Tidus is Al-Bhed, probably due to a cursory glance of his hair colour, and are surprised when he doesn't speak their language. I never put that together before!

Blond count: Tidus, Rikku, Brother, the other Al-Bheds who aren't good enough for names, Jassu.

LeBlanc! But, you can totally see her roots. So she doesn't count. Also, she's not in this game. I'm going to have to get my daily dose of cleavage from someone else, but who?

High summoners (that I know of!): Gandof, Ohalland, Yocun and Braska.

Yeeeah, this is becoming rapidly less of a liveplay and more of a, "Jes records worldbuilding details with occasional commentary on how wonderfully silly this game can get."
