In lieu of talking about my life...
I am starting university in the fall! And now, some of the course descriptions I can take have been offered to me. I have chewed on all this information.
For my humanities context credit, I can take...
Although Nordic myth is beginning to catch up, Greek legends are still one of my forever loves. For example, what's cooler than Heracles getting angry at the sun for being stronger than him and firing an arrow into it, or getting angry at the water for batting his boat around and trying to punch it? Or all the minor delightful discrepancies, such as Apollo not actually being god of the sun or Hades not actually being god of the dead?
Yessss. I just. Want this. So badly.
I have a distinct feeling I might be setting myself up for punishment by looking at this, since my English is about on par with a third grader's and my French sounds like an dying cat trying to spit. None of my humanities context credits offer up any foreign languages that don't require an elective prerequisite, but I am okay with taking a prerequisite? I would love to learn Italian, one of the courses that would (eventually) be offered to me. (The two others I saw were Spanish and German, but Italian... I don't know why, but that's the one I want.)
Philosophy! NO. One day I will talk about all the horrors exacted on my classmates and I at Sheridan by one (1) Tony Faliface, not his real name. But, it's there and staring at me, so I couldn't resist an extra chance to shout NO at the possibility of philosophising. (It wasn't that the course material itself was bad, even though Faliface managed to make it as unappealing as humanly possible through his teaching methods, but he was a textbook lousy professor and gave us an incredibly biased view of the material. Never once did he say, "it doesn't matter if you think it's true, you just need to be able to repeat it," which I think is rather important when learning historical philosophy.)
But I digress!
I just really don't want to take philosophy. :D
I digressed again. I'M BACK.
For my Science context credit, I can take...
What I'm experiencing right now may be described as an intellectual boner.
When I was in high school, I had vague dreams of being an astrophysicist but in the end, the workload that I had to attempt in college in order to achieve the building blocks of said dream made me miserable. By that time, my interests had gone elsewhere and I was all, "I want topunch Stephen Harper in the face WORK IN THE PARLIAMENT BUILDING. :D"
Still. Astronomy is sexy. How awesome would it be to meet someone at a party one day and be all, "I KNOW THE QUANTITATIVE PROPERTIES OF ALPHA CENTAURI." The answer? Very awesome. (In my hypothetical, it's a loud party and I have to shout.)
Astronomy 2: Electric Boogaloo!
So when the asteroid hits and wipes out all life on Earth, I'll be prepared? SIGN ME UP.
I wonder if watching films like 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow and critiquing them on all their factual and scientific inaccuracies is part of this course. I'm not sure I'll ever use this stuff in real life (although if I'm going into politics, it may be all I'll ever use in real life) but how can I pass up Disaster Movie: The class? The answer: I can't.
I want to take this without taking the prerequisite. Maybe if I give the professor some chocolates!
For my social science context credit, I can take...
A BUNCH OF STUFF. :D I'm too tired to be properly excited any longer. I am, just inside my head.
