And then things went right!

Yesterday, I went to Oakville to get my health card renewed. The procedure was really seamless, in part due to my having made an appointment prior, and the woman who was serving me was genuinely surprised to hear that someone on Health Line had told me that there was no way to cover my OHIP while I was waiting for my new card to arrive. She was able to reactivate my card for an additional month and gave me a form to present to my GP's office so that they knew I was between cards but still otherwise covered.

I went to see my doctor today about the knee pain I've suffered ever since London, and then he proceeded to have me sit up on the examination table thing and started groping my knee. I'm being glib but that's basically what he was doing, and of course I was giggling like an idiot because I am so ticklish and the poor guy was just like, "... what, is my face amusing her." He figured out almost right away from my description what the problem was and demonstrated by shoving my kneecap and patella cartilage into my thigh, which hurt LIKE A MOTHER. I'm not even kidding. I squealed in pain. And, basically my internet diagnosis of chondromalacia patella, a.k.a. Patella Femoral Syndrome was 100% correct.

It is not a problem nor anything permanently debilitating! It's a painful annoyance but he told me it should go away on its own given time, not straining my knee as much (basically, NO STAIRS unless absolutely necessary, but I'm sure I'm going to forget that my very first day of work) and icing my knee regularly.

I'm not thrilled, admittedly. But I am feeling a lot better mentally, if not physically. Having an official diagnosis from my grandparents' trusted physician should be enough additional assurance but it doesn't really give me a magical cure to make the pain go away. I don't want to be in pain. I want a healthy functioning knee where cartilage and bone don't get into fist fights every time I try to go up a set of stairs. However, it is just pain, and pain isn't permanent. I was worried it was indicative of something major and that it could jeopardise me going back to work or moving in September, but neither seem to be the case. To that I say: HELL YEAH. :D See the bright side, self.

So that's a considerable load of my mind.

That is a good bright side! Especially the part where it isn't permanent. /big hug I'm glad you're feeling better.
