# 10 ; three hours of my life
Jan. 20th, 2012 11:22 amConfession time! Up until now, I have done precious little in regards to SOPA. The main reason is that I’m not American. I don’t pay taxes in the United States or vote in their elections – so it’s not unreasonable to assume that most American politicians don’t really care what I have to say or think. At best, most if not all of the websites protesting SOPA could offer me in terms of action I could take is, “keep people informed.”
So I read SOPA. All 78 pages of it.
Disclaimer: I’m not a legal scholar. At best, I have a minor associate’s degree from a community college where I took exactly one (1) course in international relations, taught by the greatest professor who also had a supporting role in A History of Violence ever. This is just a general summary with occasionally commentary slipped in because I couldn't help myself and can't be bothered to edit it out now. Take the information in any way you like.
So here we go.
( this is a neat little cut )

When all is said and done, sometimes I need to remember that the internet is...
Really, really funny.
Here, have some articles.
Those whacky feds!
(Highlight: More: 10 Memorable Kodak Commercials. Also, Kim Dotcom is the greatest name I will never have.)
Anonymous breaks the internet.
World's tiniest soapbox, get! ( Read more... )
I am going to miss MegaVideo, though. I am an unapologetic streamer of anime.
Edit: And then it got really fucking ridiculous
The return of the edit: And, for another laugh, LJ's response to SOPA/PIPA.
A teaser I found to be delightfully indicative of the bullshit you can expect from such an article:

"Since 1999, LiveJournal has provided a safe space for users to test the boundaries of copyright and free expression with works of fan fiction, fan art, and image macros since 1999, before Facebook and Tumblr were even conceived."
